Windows 10 End of Life Date
Microsoft’s Windows 10 will not be the final version of Windows after all. They announced they will stop supporting the operating system on October 14, 2025.
The company updated it Windows lifecycle fact sheet showing the end of mainstream support for Windows 10 on October 13, 2020 and the end of extended support on October 14, 2025. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide automatic fixes, updates, or technical assistance. The fact sheet also explains that following October 14th not all features in an update will work on all devices and a device may not receive updates if the device hardware in incompatible, lacking current driver, or otherwise outside the original equipment manufacturer’s support period.
Microsoft originally stated “Right now we’re releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, we’re all still working on Windows 10.” They were later forced to issue an additional statement explaining that Windows 10 might not be the definitive version of the operating system. The release of Windows 11 has been long awaited by users, but has not yet been mentioned by Microsoft, though they have dropped subtle hints in the past year.
